Dziedziczka hotelarskiej fortuny może otrzymać w przyszłości znacznie mniejszy spadek, niż się spodziewała, bo jej dziadek postanowił rozdać większość majątku na cele charytatywne.
80-letni magnat hotelowy Barron Hilton postanowił oddać 2,3 miliarda dolarów fundacji Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, założonej przez jego ojca w 1944 roku. Prawie połowa zostanie przekazana już teraz, a reszta – po jego śmierci.
„Jesteśmy dumni i wdzięczni za to wielkie poświęcenie” – napisał w oświadczeniu syn Hiltona, Steven M. Hilton, który jest prezesem fundacji.
Pieniądze będą pochodziły ze sprzedaży sieci hoteli Hilton.
Organizacja rozprowadziła ponad 560 mln dolarów na programy pomocy chorym psychicznie bezdomnym i dostarczania wody pitnej mieszkańcom Afryki i Meksyku.
